The Business Online concept started to develop in August 2000 when I found a lot of Australian web sites purporting to advertise "businesses for sale" but in actual fact had very few "real" businesses and virtually none from Western Australia.
What occurred to me was that there are some very clever web designers out there who can build very snazzy web sites with great names but that's the end of it. I'm sure thousands of people built business web sites over the last few years hoping that visitors would flock to their site and buy their product or service. (I did!) Apparently the average Australian web site has around 50 visitors a year, usually the people who designed it and the people who paid for it. www.businessonline.net.au has over 5000 visitors a month. In business the basic rules haven't changed a lot in the last 100 years. Customers are not going to come to you just because you have a business, you've got to promote and market the hell out of it to make it work. More so with a web site (and I'm not talking "Search Engines") especially if the business only exists on the internet.
Business Online is designed purely as an information site with no high tech wizardry or flashy graphics. We use MS FrontPage 4.0. It's a living thing, growing and changing all the time. All 200 plus pages of it.
At Business Online we do just two things. We advertise real businesses for sale and provide information to buyers and sellers. We actively promote our services to business sellers on a regular basis. We aim to be the number one business opportunities and business for sale web site in Western Australia.
